About Medical Billing and Coding

The Medical Billing and Coding school at AIMT is designed to prepare you to start your career on Day 1. Our comprehensive, 13-month medical billing and coding training program prepares students for entry level jobs, though many of our students start in management positions due to their experience.

Graduates of our Medical Billing and Coding training program are prepared to provide the patient data that doctors, nurses, and other providers need to perform their jobs. By maintaining, collecting, and analyzing health information, your work makes an important contribution to the delivery of quality care.

Our Medical Billing and Coding program meets the needs of working adults, while providing rigorous training. By coming to school just two days per week, you’re able to get a college education, while keeping your job and its benefits.

Our Medical Billing and Coding program is taught by trained and certified medical professionals with experience in the field. Our students are prepared to take their certification through AAPC for their CPC.

Program Information

The Medical Billing and Coding program will prepare you for the following:

● Preparation for completing one of the following credentialing examinations: CMRS, CPC or the CCS

● Training in medical coding, including ICD-10 and CPT Codes

● Training in HCPCS coding and insurance companies

● Medical terminology and medical office procedures, including insurance filing, billing and reimbursements

Graduates who become certified through AAPC, have 1-year of experience, and take a practicum with AAPC are also recognized as having two years of experience. This is a huge advantage in a competitive field.


Who can enroll?

Entrance Prerequisites

  • - Evaluation and acceptance by the Admissions Director or School Director
  • - Successful completion of the entrance exam
  • - Completion of the health care provider statement/medical release forms
  • - Completion of the Background Check
  • - Completion of the Drug screen
  • - High school Diploma or GED equivalent (proof required)
  • - Valid Driver’s License
  • - Signed Social Security Card

Class Hours

  • - Day Classes Wednesdays & Thursdays 8:30AM – 4:30PM
  • - Evening Classes Mondays & Tuesdays 5PM – 10PM and Thursdays 5PM – 9PM
